Lebanon Trail High School
mascot + logo
mascot logo + branding
During my senior year of high school, I was chosen to design the logo and mascot for the 12th high school in Frisco, Texas, called Lebanon Trail. Among designing the mascot and logo marks, I was given a place on the design board to help ideate the colors for the school's interior, flooring, and tiling, as well as determine what the mascot "Trailblazer" should be. I decided on a horse with flames igniting from its mane, as I wanted it to invoke a sense of strength and poise. I sketched my first draft with pencil on paper, and from there began to bring the Trailblazer to life in Adobe Illustrator. I wanted to take on a different angle from the typical angry, scary, ready-to-trample-you-and-tear-you-to-pieces school mascot, while maintaining a bold, dominant, and aggressive expression. The Trailblazer mascot logo has taken on a multitude of forms- engraved in the tile floors of the school's entrance, painted murals throughout the school walls and gym, turned into a mascot costume, on sports jerseys and football helmets, merch, car decals, and much more. It's still fun visiting home in Frisco and seeing the mascot I created on cars driving by, on people's t-shirts, and even in Walmart and Target.
